About Us

Veterinary care, the way we believe it should be practiced.

Solana Vet was created by veterinarians Mallory and Cedric with a simple goal: to practice modern veterinary medicine in a way that feels personal, collaborative and thoughtful.

We believe pet owners should understand what is happening with their pet and why we are recommending a particular course of care. That means taking the time to ask the right questions, explain what we find, and discuss the reasoning behind the diagnostics and treatments we recommend. We want you to be part of the conversation and an active participant in your pet's care.

We also recognize there isn't always one right treatment plan. We can offer advanced diagnostics and gold-standard care when that is the right choice, but good veterinary medicine also means understanding each family's circumstances. We'll talk openly about costs, distinguish between ideal recommendations and reasonable alternatives, and work together to develop a plan that makes sense for your pet and your family.

Designed around pets, not just people

Solana Vet was built from the ground up with Fear Free principles in mind. From the way pets move through the hospital to the way they are handled during an exam, our goal is to reduce fear, anxiety and stress whenever possible.

Cats have their own dedicated waiting, exam, treatment and hospitalization spaces, allowing them to receive care away from the sights, sounds and smells of dogs. For anxious dogs and cats, we take a thoughtful approach to handling and are happy to discuss ways to make future visits easier.

The details matter to us — not only in the medicine we practice, but in creating an environment that feels calm, clean and welcoming for pets and the people who love them.

Modern medicine, individual decisions

Our approach is rooted in current veterinary standards: thoughtful diagnostics, comprehensive dentistry, careful anesthesia and pain management, strong surgical care, and knowing when a specialist is the best next step.

But medicine is never just a checklist.

Every pet is different. A young puppy, a fearful cat, an aging companion and a critically ill patient all deserve care tailored to their individual needs and their family's goals. For older pets and those with chronic or complex conditions, that may mean pursuing diagnostics or treatment — or it may mean focusing on comfort, quality of life and managing problems thoughtfully over time. Our role is to help families understand their options and choose a path that feels right for them and their pet.

Veterinarian-owned. San Clemente rooted.

For Mallory, opening Solana Vet is also a homecoming.

Her family moved to San Clemente in 2003, and she attended San Clemente High School before leaving for UC San Diego and eventually Australia for veterinary school. She always knew she wanted to come home — and she returned with Cedric, arguably her best souvenir from Australia.

Cedric quickly fell in love with San Clemente too, and together they chose to build their home, raise their family and create their veterinary practice here.

Solana Vet isn't intended to be a corporate outpost or a high-volume clinic. We want it to become a true neighborhood veterinary hospital — a place where our team knows your pets, where you feel comfortable asking questions, and where families throughout our community can access thoughtful veterinary care.

We feel incredibly lucky to call San Clemente home, and we're excited to care for the animals who make this community so special.
